Definition:
Convulsions occurring with fever of 38 degree centigrade or more without evidence of documented CNS infection.Incidence:
Commonest cause of convulsions in children.
5%of children suffer from febrile convulsions,
Age 6 months to 6 years.

Heredity:
H/o febrile convulsions in siblings/parents.
Predisposing illnesses:
URTI in upto75% of patients, young children tend to have hyperpyrexia in response to URTI
