Uveitis is the  inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, which is called the “uvea” but more commonly the word is used to refer any inflammatory process involving the interior of the eye, with inflammation specifically of the uvea termed iridocyclitis.Uveitis is one of the main causes of blindness all over the worldnearly 10% according to statistics. This condition requires an urgent referral and complete examination by an ophthalmologist, along with urgent treatment to control the inflammation adn hence the possibility of blindnes.

Now usage of lens is one of the main causes for wat is called ” lens induced uveitis” bits of the lens may break off and stay within inducing a foreign body reaction. Another possibilty is leakage of lens proteins in case of old lens which could also lead to this condition. Presence of this along with cataract  brings down the recovery and success rates of  cataract surgery even.
