Neck pain occurs due to a stretch injury to the muscles and ligaments of the neck. It can occur when the head is forcibly bent forward, backward or sideways. Common causes of neck pain are bending over a desk for hours, having poor posture while watching TV or reading, placing the computer monitors too high or too low, sleeping in an uncomfortable position or twisting and turning the neck in a jarred manner.
TO AVOID NECK PAIN I MUST…
-    Stretch the neck every hour or so while working.
-    Use seat belts and bike helmets to prevent injuries.
TO RELIEVE MY NECK PAIN I MUST…
-    Sleep on a firm mattress without a pillow or with a special neck pillow.
-    Use a topical pain relieving gel or spray for effective relief.
EXERCISES FOR THE NECK
-    NECK ROTATION - start by looking ahead. Slowly turn your head to the left. Hold for ten seconds, and then return to starting position. Then slowly turn your head to the other side. Hold for 10 seconds. Return to starting position. Repeat 10 times at different times of the day .
